Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is considering two political action committees allegedly violating the law by supporting Texas Democrats travel out of state to avoid a quorum during a constituency change conflict.
The group is People PAC, led by former MP Beto O’Rourke, and Texas Mocility PAC, led by members of his former staff.
“A Democrat co-sick person will be accountable to anyone who has taken Beto’s bribes and broke the law,” Paxton said in a news release Wednesday.
O’Rourke failed to make a Democratic presidential nomination in 2020, lost to Senator Ted Cruz in a closely monitored contest in 2018, and lost to Gov. Greg Abbott in 2022.

“Texas is not available to buy. We look forward to a thorough review of all the documents and communications obtained through this investigation. These jet setting runaways have already lost the public’s trust by abandoning our state, and the Texans deserve to know if they have received illegal bribery to do so,” Paxton continued.
Public records show that PACPAC has a PAC, which receives substantial amounts of donations through individuals from platforms like ActBlue, but according to Texas Tribune, it has received over hundreds of thousands of people from progressive consulting firm Middle Seat from Simone Coxe, a nonprofit that is the leading fund of O’Rourke’s Gubernatorial Bid. Additionally, FEC records show that the Harris Victory Fund gave over $114,000 in January 2024 and $60,000 in December 2023.
In 2024, she received just $5,000 from President Lyndon Johnson’s ex-daughter Lucy Baines Johnson.

According to the Texas Tribune, the PAC has allowed lawmakers to support out-of-state travel.
“100% of your donation will be sent to supporting the Texas Democrats in the fight against Trump’s grip on power,” said a website previously reported by Fox News Digital.
Federal Election Commission records show that as of June 30, the group has reported more than $3.5 million in cash on hand.

The Texas majority PAC has received a large amount of funding from longtime democratic donor George Soros.
“If Texas legislators bow to the Soros Slash Fund rather than the will of voters, it is bribery for Texans to get monetary payments under the table to waive your legislative obligations,” Paxton said in a statement Thursday. “The actions of the Texas majority PAC seem to indicate that they may be using resources funded by Soros to break the law and fund illegal abandonment of public office. There are expensive prices to pay if determined in this investigation.”

Fox News Digital reached out to Papered PAC and Texas Mocility PAC to comment on Paxton’s investigation. O’Rourke responded to a post from Paxton on Wednesday, saying Democrats were “terrified of accountability.”
