Two CHP officers responding to a crash in Pomona were rushed to the hospital after being struck by another vehicle, officials said.
Around 2:50 a.m. Sunday, officers responded to a two-vehicle crash on the southbound section of Highway 71 near Rio Rancho Road, according to a CHP spokesperson.
While they were responding to the crash, another vehicle struck their patrol car, a spokesperson confirmed.

“At least two officers were transported with unspecified injuries,” the CHP said.

Their status is unknown. It is unclear whether the driver who collided with the officers was injured.
The cause of both crashes is unknown.

All southbound lanes of the highway were closed immediately after the accident. A SigAlert issued for the affected sections of the highway was canceled by 7:20 a.m. for an unknown period of time.
