Editor’s Note: KTLA has emailed officials to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to confirm the incident, waiting for a response.

The fierce clash between U.S. Department of Homeland Security protesters and U.S. Bureau officials reportedly unfolded Thursday afternoon outside a federal courthouse near the Metropolitan Detention Center in downtown Los Angeles.

The incident unfolded around 1:15pm in the 500 block of North Alameda Avenue, according to a witness who emailed the KTLA.

In camera footage of the collision, an officer wearing a bullet decorated with the words “homeland security” crossed the street where a handful of “occupying ice” demonstrators were camped in front of a sign.

It is unclear why the officers approached the protesters, but as several women, including two, were pulled out of the group and separated by several officers, they quickly escaped the violent physical struggle that had several women, including two, been taken to the ground.

Another man raised his weapon in the direction of a man on one of the officers wearing a white T-shirt in his backpack, who appeared to be screaming at the police officer to prevent him from stopping, and was armed with what appeared to be a non-fatal firearm.

As the conflict continues, the man first pulled into the street can be seen struggling with the agent and eventually go to the ground with three officers above him.

As he tried to escape from the scene, another protester was caught by a DHS officer.

Witnesses alleged that federal officers crossed the street without provocation, and officials later said one of the men was targeted by permanent marker graffiti, but these details have not yet been confirmed by federal officials.

It is unknown whether the arrest was made.
