Emma Hooke, a native of Orange County, was killed in a plane crash in San Diego, is being honored by her family and community for her life and her legacy.

Tim and Allison Hark say their daughter Emma had a smile and a lively personality that could illuminate any room or anyone.

“She was out because she was full of life. She was there and always wanted to do everything,” Tim said.

Parents in Orange County say their 25-year-old daughter is not only kind, but also makes people feel like they want, love and belong.

“Emma treated people kindly, and she lived her life that way. Everyone in her presence felt that,” Tim said.

Emma’s presence is so painfully overlooked in the way her heartbreaking parents say they can’t explain it.

Her final comment to me is that I am endlessly proud to be your daughter. It’s the people in her building, but the reality is that I’ll be endlessly proud that I’m her mother,” said an emotional Allison.

Early Thursday morning, Tim and Allison received a devastating call at Silverado’s home.

“It’s the worst nightmare for every parent. Losing a child in front of you,” Tim said.

Emma, a University of Oregon graduate and booking associate for the Sound Talent Group, was killed on board a private plane home from a concert at Madison Square Gardens that crashed in San Diego.

Among her daughter’s retrieved belongings was a necklace that Allison was now approaching her heart.

On the way home, I see a necklace and say it “always an angel.” I was just stumbling,” Alison said.

The family says the pouring of support shows them how much their daughter is loved. They launched a GoFundMe account ahead of a memorial fund called “Emma’s Project.” There, people can donate to causes that are close to Emma’s heart.

“It’s a sense of community, and that’s how she lived her life. She reaches out to the branches of olives, bring in marginalized and vulnerable people, throws their arms, everyone opens up to her heart. She lives that kind of life,” Tim said. “If there’s something positive out of the devastation of losing my baby girl, then spread the message.”

Hoeks promises to spread Emma’s kindness every day to ensure that her love and light stay alive.

Emma was my best friend, she was the light of my life. “She brought so much joy,” Tim said.
