Firefighters are battling a series of major fires in the Los Angeles area that have killed seven people, burned at least 10,000 structures from the Pacific Coast to Pasadena, and left thousands of people desperately evacuating their homes. They are struggling to suppress it.
The ferocious winds that sparked the flames and caused chaotic evacuations have subsided somewhat. But forecasters say the high fire risk weather will continue into Friday. Firefighters are battling the fire, which has spread over a vast area. Larger ones in Pacific Palisades and Altadena are still burning.
Below are some images of the “fire siege” that has engulfed the Los Angeles metro this week.
