A concerned mother is suing for an arrest and justice for the gunman who shot her son while he was getting a haircut at a Mission Hills barber shop.

The shooting occurred Dec. 11 at Prodigy Barbershop, 15519 Devonshire Street. The suspect was seen on surveillance footage wearing a hat and mask as he entered the store and fatally shot the barber, Anthony Rodarte.

“My son called me and told me he had been shot,” said Michelle Moreno, Rodarte’s mother. “It was terrible because we didn’t know where he was shot. At the time, he sounded like he was breathing heavily. So what would have been a five-minute drive felt like a 30-minute drive. Ta.”

The suspect fled on an electric scooter before police arrived.

“He was loading a customer in a chair and had his back to the front door. The door was open so I walked past him. He shot my son while he was at work cutting someone’s hair. ,” Moreno said.

Los Angeles police are continuing to search for the shooter, but say the motive for the shooting is unknown.

“What appears to have been a random shot in the left side of the hip where the bullet entered has now lodged in the right pelvis and completely shattered all the nerves in the spinal area of the lower back,” Moreno said.

Rodarte is still recovering in the hospital, but his mother said she is worried because the alleged gunman is still at large.

“This is his family, this is his home. He’s here every day,” Moreno said. “It’s been really tough, but I think the priority right now is to get this guy, because he’s still there.”
