The Ventura County District Attorney’s Office announced Friday that a Simi Valley man was found guilty of two felony counts of lewd acts against a child he knew through a familial relationship.
According to prosecutors, Antonio Canseco, 53, was arrested on January 3, 2020 for sexually abusing an 8-year-old child.
Simi Valley Police Department investigators began an investigation after receiving a report of the incident and were later able to confirm additional lewd acts committed by Canseco against the same child.
“The inappropriate touching began a year ago when the victim was 7 years old,” the prosecutor’s office said in a press release.
In its guilty verdict, the prosecutor’s office said the jury found true the specific allegation that Mr. Canseco engaged in a significant sexual act.
Additionally, remaining aggravating factors, including the use of a position of trust and the victim’s vulnerability, were also found to be true by the judge.

Canseco’s sentencing is scheduled for January 14, 2025 in Ventura County Superior Court.
The prosecutor’s office said Canseco is on bail pending sentencing and could face up to state prison.
