The Southern California city has planned a wide range of events throughout the day, from parades to pool parties and barbecues, on the 4th of July holiday.

Before an evening filled with enchanting professional fireworks shows, families can enjoy these daytime events on Friday, July 4th.

Anaheim: Patriotic puppies show their own at the Yankee Doodle Dog Show in Anaheim as part of the city’s all-day festival. The day begins with a firecracker 5K/10K race followed by a dog show at 9am, followed by a parade with live entertainment.

Pacific Aquarium: Enjoy a view of the Rainbow Harbor and a celebratory barbecue lunch with all-day admission at the Pacific Aquarium on Long Beach. Private table reservations are available for 1 hour at noon and 1pm

Big Bear: Head to Big Bear’s pre-party from 10am to 6pm, under Pines, featuring a vendor market, a kids’ fun zone, live entertainment and a barbecue menu.

Calabasas: The city of Calabasas begins the day with a fun lakeside run from 7am to 5:30pm on Fridays, heading for pet shows and splash pool parties.

Century City: Experience a full day of “carnival-style fun” at the Hillcrest Country Club, which starts Friday at 11am. The event features daytime food trucks, mimosas and Bloody Mary Stations and private poolside cabanas, leading to an evening fireworks show.

Disneyland: “The Happiest Place on Earth” and look for patriotic and performances during the day from military bands. Magic Kingdom’s fan-favorite fireworks show 9:35pm will feature stars and striped red, white and blue fireworks projected onto the iconic attraction.

El Segundo: Celebrating daytime events will fill the recreation park from 10am to 3pm, showing off the best hula hoop moves, playing three-legged races, and pushing faces with pie in group contests.

Huntington Beach: At the 121st Annual Independence Day event, the city will host a Surf City 5K run at 7am at the parade and festival. Live Entertainment and Main Street Block Party will keep the patriotic spirit alive all weekend.

Manhattan Beach: Cool July 4th with a pool party at Beg Pool from 10am to 2pm

Mission Viejo: Stroll through the street fairs and stroll through the sounds of live music, or enjoy the thrills at Mission Viejo. The celebration begins at 12pm

Palos Verdes: The 60th annual celebration will feature “South Bay Traditions,” which begin at 9:30am, including a bike parade, Apple Pie Eating Contest and Civic Awards.

Santa Clarita Valley: Family can brightly start their Independence Day celebrations at 9am Friday at a parade in the “multi-generational tradition” Santa Clarita Valley.

Santa Monica: Celebrate Santa Monica’s Sesquicentennial at the city’s 18th July 4th Parade along Main Street at 9:30am.

Simi Valley: Want to learn more about America on your 250th birthday? The Ronald Reagan Library will host family-friendly events starting at 10am, including face painting and presidential bingo, as well as visits from IWO Jima re-establishers.

Universal Studios: Travel to Universal Studios Hollywood and see the park decorated with red, white and blue. The park will open at 9am and the 9pm fireworks show will close ride and entertainment days.

Venice Beach: Do you have fun on your holiday weekend? Athletes can test their strength at Muscle Beach Bodging Competition in Venice and Muschul Beach Bodybuilding Competition.

Some events are free, while others require advance admission or tickets.
