Spencer Pratt searched for the tile rub, which was his Pacific Palisade home, found his spectral cable box, and eventually ended his service with the provider.

This all began when Pratt went to a social media platform to reveal his conversation with a customer service agent.

“I know someone is just reading the script from the boss,” he wrote. “But I was asked by Spectrum, after they told me that the house was burned to the ground and that if there was a box I would return, I didn’t need any service.”

He then shared a message directly with the spectrum supervisor who told Platt that he would not be billed for a damaged box due to the fire.
For Pratt, fees were not an issue, and it was his exchange with a customer service agent that seemed to lack empathy.
“I think the Traci in my first problem is that they asked me after saying my house was burnt out. Obviously, they’re reading from the script, so I think they edited the script,” he said. “Thank you for reaching out. I would like to thank this customer service, but I only advise the powers in the spectrum to edit the script.”

“When someone says to your lovely employee their home has burned out, you immediately say, “Now, I’ll let you abandon that fee for your damaged box, you won’t ask if they have the box.”
Pratt’s followers quickly flooded the comments section and shared their stories.
“The same thing happened after the fire! I called to cancel. “I told them that they could bag the ashes if they wanted. I can’t even tell you how many hours they spent on the phone they’re arguing with. There are a lot of companies out there that can benefit from some kind of empathy, I don’t know logic, training.”
“Through this tragedy and others, the most disappointing ‘bedside manners’, the amount of companies that have the most disappointing ‘bedside manners’ of customer service, can write a book,” another wrote.
Spectrum told KTLA 5 “Customers will not be billed for equipment damaged in the fire,” and “agents will be instructed not to ask them to return the equipment.” They also said, “We are checking the agents’ instructions to ensure that our communications are clear.”
“Anyone in the fire area can contact us at this special number 833-499-3306 to ask questions about the situation. If the customer’s home is damaged, unable to return to it, or if the equipment is lost or damaged in the fire, they will be able to provide options regarding service, billing concerns, credits or other needs. “We have been actively communicating this to customers in the affected areas.”
Pratt and his wife Heidi Montag and their children were forced to evacuate their home during the catastrophic wildfires of January. His parents’ home was also damaged in the flames.
Pratt and Montag have been romantically linked since 2007, have been married since 2008 and have two children together. They are well known for their collective nickname Speidi. During this time, we don’t know where they are looking for shelter.
They both appeared on the MTV reality show “The Hills,” which aired six seasons from 2006 to 2010. It originally focused on the life of Lauren “LC” Conrad, who appeared on the hit reality show “Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County.”
