The suspect in a stolen vehicle driving a white pickup truck in the Westside area of Los Angeles County was taken into custody after a horrifying moment on Tuesday.

It was unclear exactly when and where the pursuit began, but aerial video for Sky5 showed a track in the Santa Monica area around 11:45am

At one point during the pursuit, the driver of the white pickup truck stopped and urged police to open the door in case the suspect surrendered, but speeded again.

Police later attempted to operate the pit, causing damage to the back end of the truck, but the suspect continued to avoid officers.

The male driver pumped his fist at the officer with the window down just before the pit maneuver attempted.

Sky5 followed the track and ran several turns on the streets of Santa Monica, including Ocean Park Boulevard, Euclidean Street and Lincoln Boulevard, before heading to Venice.

Just before noon, the driver stopped again and left the car, but instead of surrendering, he actively walked towards the officer who painted the gun, then spinned back into the truck.

He drove again, but stopped shortly afterwards, got off the truck again and walked towards the police car.

This time he was defeated by a pack of police officers and taken into custody.
