Hot dogs on the truck!

Southern California’s top dachshund is ready to race his feet at the 28th Wiener Schnitzel Wiener Nationals, held at the Los Alamitos Race Course.

The award-winning dog will earn all the money from the opportunity to go to Seal Beach Animal Care Center, a nonprofit dedicated to finding homes for stray animals in the Orange County area, and will have the opportunity to collect $1,000 prizes and boastful rights, titled “The Fastest Winner Dog.”

People can go to these short-distance sprint winners at the championship race at 9:15pm on Saturday at 9:15pm.

This year’s contest features Sisi, the oldest winner running in a race. The 14-year-old dachshund was called the senior “ambassador dog” and competed in the long tail division before competing in the championship race for dogs over six years old. Her first race was 12 years old in 2023.

“We’ve loved being part of what’s helping other animals since we hired Senior Dogs, and that’s what the organization does for senior dogs, not just for dogs in need, said Kiley Majeski, who adopted SISI in 2020.

Participants will also have the opportunity to meet competing winner dogs as they will be accompanied by trainer owners in the grandstand area.

Lowdy is one of Hollywood’s other flying sausage racers in his black and gold uniforms. According to her owner Kim Estrada, she is also a professional female skateboard dog because she can do tricks and fly.

“Bring your friends, bring your family,” Estrada said. “Look at who will be the fastest winner in the West.”

The Doggie Racing Showdown admission is $3 for adults and children under the age of 17 can enter for free. Seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Since the annual contest began in 1996, Wienerschnitzel Wiener Nationals has helped raise more than $300,000 for animal care centers through ticket sales.

In last year’s competition, the winning Hot Dog Cannonball Charlie crowned the fastest winner with a record break of 4.28, cementing in the history of the Wienerschnitzel Wiener Nationals.
