The small minced whale trapped in a port in Long Beach last week had died, officials confirmed.
KTLA viewers submitted photos and videos of whales beached on Sunday morning at Long Beach Catalina Landing.
The KTLA then contacted the National Marine and Atmospheric Regime Fisheries, but later confirmed that it was in fact the same whales trapped in the port for several days.

NOAA was working last week to help whales escape the harbor, possibly at high tide, after accidentally swimming. Justin Wiesvik of Noah Fisheries said there is a theory that the bridge above the harbor is to blame for the whales for refusing to return to deeper ocean waters.
“You know, this is a very superficial animal, and when you get out of that small area and look up, you’ll see this very large structure above your head, and whales are not used to having things on top of them,” he said.

Experts added that the whales did not appear to be in bad shape and likely were younger due to their size, but they could not survive in shallow water for too long.
The test will be conducted on a whale on Sunday afternoon to determine the cause of death, according to the NOAA.
Additional details were not available immediately.
