The South Los Angeles Autozone was looted Monday morning while the streets could be bought out, police said.

At about 1:15am, police received reports of a business breaking into the area near the intersection of South Main Street and Vernon Avenue, where the street acquisition was being reported, authorities said.

According to video footage from OnScenetV, officers arrived around 1:30am, pulled their guns closer, drew them and screamed. But by then, everyone was gone.

The video features discarded goods boxes and broken glass scattered around the car park, with the front door and security gates open.

Police did not say whether there was surveillance video of those who broke in.

This is not the first time a looted auto parts store has coincided with a possible street takeover nearby.

About a month ago, around 100 people had looted another Southla Autozone, KTLA reported.

Last summer, nearly 50 people rushed to Autozone at Century Boulevard and Hoover Street, the same locations that broke last month. According to a video shared on social media, people pulled a security fence at the main entrance and covered their faces as they shoved into the store.

A 24-year-old man was arrested in connection with the case and charged with organised retail theft, according to Los Angeles County prosecutors.
