The union, which represents roughly 12,000 Stater Bros. employees in Southern California, announced on Wednesday that it had reached a temporary contract agreement with the grocery chain.
Union workers had previously allowed strikes if they were unable to reach the transaction.
Federal officials said specific details of the proposed contract have not been released, but that includes higher wages, additional pension contributions, and improved health, welfare and staffing.
The boycott at the Stator Brothers Huntington Beach location, scheduled for Thursday, was cancelled following a tentative agreement, according to union representatives.
“This victory would not have been possible without the power of our collective action,” the Starter Brothers Negotiation Committee, United Food and Commercial Workers, said in a statement. ”
Details of the interim agreement will only be shared with members at future meetings, and more information will be shared to the public after the vote is completed, the union said.
Agreement was reached after four negotiation sessions over nine days.
“The negotiations are in good faith, and both sides work hard to support teammates and maintain a fair deal that holds a line on customer prices,” Stater Bros. Markets said in a statement.
