Police arrested a 41-year-old piano teacher on Thursday on suspicion of sexually abusing a 14-year-old student.
According to the Santa Monica Police Department, detectives received a report of suspected child abuse of a 14-year-old girl by a piano teacher. After a thorough investigation, detectives announced that Jihanyan and a minor had engaged in sexual activity starting in July 2024.
The teacher, identified as Hovhanness John Jihanian of Van Nuys, was taken into custody after authorities executed a search warrant in Encino.

Some of these incidents occurred at students’ homes, teachers’ cars, and the French Conservatory’s studio in Beverly Hills.
Jihanyan was charged with lewd conduct with a minor under 13 years of age, continuous sexual abuse of a minor under 13 years of age, sexual assault of a minor under 13 years of age with the perpetrator being 10 years older, He was arrested on charges of possession of child pornography and possession of child pornography. Sexual exploitation of minors.
SMPD said Jihanyan remains in custody and has no prior criminal history.
The case is scheduled to be filed with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office on Monday, December 16, 2024.
