The world’s largest athlete will soon be heading out to Italy.
The 2026 Winter Olympics will host events in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo. From majestic mountains to historic stadiums, competitors compete for medals in several fantastic environments.
Events at certain Olympics are usually held in or around a single host city, but the Milan Cortina game spreads quite a bit to northern Italy. Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo are about 250 miles apart, and organizers use the space to host major events and ceremonies for the game.

Will there be a 2026 Winter Olympics event at Lake Placid?
Lake Placid in New York has been appointed as a potential backup location for Slide Sports if the Cortina Sliding Center does not finish by the start of the 2026 Winter Games. However, at the time of this writing, all upcoming Winter Olympics events will be held in Italy.
The Winter Olympics were last held in Beijing, China in 2022. Italy’s Milan Cortina d’Ampezzo is the host of the 2026 Winter Olympics.
