As Los Angeles County sheriff, Alex Villanueva investigated the Los Angeles Metro and local political leaders, threatening to separate deputies from the transport system amid public protests over safety.
Just a few years later, he apparently applied to become a Metro employee.
Los Angeles Times reporter Keri Breaking wrote on social media that he admitted to applying for a La Metro job when he deposited for a lawsuit against the county for placing him on the “rehitd not rehire” list against the county.
Court documents shared by the blaking shippers show that Villanueva does not consider Metro as the county department and he is allowing him to apply to the agency in his view.
“I’m doing a preliminary screening with the headhunting company and waiting for a callback,” he said.
Metro has created its own police, and Villanueva is likely to work in that department.
But that desire comes after the attack on Metro HQ, home to former county supervisors and metro contractors, as part of a suspected corruption investigation. The state Department of Justice has refused to pursue the charges.
Blakinger pointed out how rare it is for law enforcement members to work for the same institution after they have led their research into substance research.
“It’s really indifferent to oversee the attack on the organization’s headquarters and apply for a job there,” she pointed out.
