The 33-year-old woman was arrested last week on suspicion of murder in Riverside County with the stab wounds of her 42-year-old husband, police said Tuesday.

Officers were called to “Unknown Issues” in the 1200 block of West 8th Avenue in Corona and found a man with multiple stab wounds on Friday, the Corona Police Department said in a news release.

The victim, identified as 42-year-old Michael Hughes, was found with serious abdominal injuries and was declared dead at the scene.

“Covid-19 police officers interviewed the family and determined that a man was injured during a discussion with his wife, Marena Johnson (Covid-1933),” police said in a news release.

Johnson was found there when police arrived and was safely taken into custody. She was later booked for murder and taken to the Robert Presley Detention Center.

No details were provided about what happened to the stab wounds or what the discussion was.

Investigators believe it is an isolated incident and there are no significant suspects or dangers in the community.
