The Detroit to Los Angeles flight made an emergency landing in Minneapolis Monday after one of the furry passengers got sick.
Delta Flight 694 departed Detroit around 5:30pm and was scheduled to arrive at LAX in about five hours.
However, the anniversary flight was decoupled to Minneapolis due to a medical emergency involving a cabin pet, an airline official said.
The crew was informed that the dog in flight had become ill, and a veterinarian who happened to be on board was helping with the care. Finally, the decision was made to divert the Airbus A320 to the nearest major airport so that pets and their owners could be exhausted.
The medical workers were on the ground waiting for the plane to arrive, meeting the dog and its owner, before meeting the dog and its owner.
Although the appropriation delayed 181 customers and six crew members over two hours, Delta says the decision to make an unplanned landing is in line with the company’s values.
“Customer and people safety comes before everything else in Delta,” the airline said in a statement to KTLA. “That’s why [the flight diverted] To ensure that sick cabin pets have received proper care. ”
A passenger who contacted KTLA about the plane being reused said the dog was fine, according to a announcement from the flight captain.
