Authorities say the bodies found adjacent to 405 Freeway prompted a criminal investigation with “possible foul play.”
Larsen, California Highway Patrol Officer, confirmed with KTLA that a call was received near 405 and Manhattan Beach Boulevard in Lawndale at 3:38am Tuesday.
The bodies were found adjacent to the southbound span, but were not found in highway lanes, Officer Larsen said. Emergency personnel from the LA County Fire Station responded and declared the person who died at the scene at 3:52am.
“The main crime forces responded to the scene due to the possibility of foul play,” Officer Larsen detailed. “They treat this as a crime scene, not a traffic collision.”
It is unclear whether the vehicle is involved in the incident. Identification information about the deceased, such as age and gender, was not immediately available.
Law enforcement officials said the medical inspector’s investigation was suspended due to a criminal investigation.
