Court documents shed light on the appointment of a 10-year-old girl from California’s Central Valley by a 27-year-old man she met on the popular gaming portal Roblox.

When defendant Navy Matthew picked her up in Tuft, California, the girl thought they would hang out to go to a park near her home, she told investigators. However, when they spoke and drove, they decided to go to another park a little further away.

She was distracted while driving, the girl told investigators. It was three hours later that she realized she wasn’t near her house.

“I wanted to go home once we realised we were far from my home, but I didn’t know how to ask about it and didn’t actually ask me to take you home,” the girl told Kern County Sheriff’s Investigators, according to newly released court documents. “But I was thinking about how to ask him,” she said.

The Navy was arrested on April 13 after the two were found together in a car at the strip mall in Elk Grove, more than 250 miles north of Tuft.

He was in custody on $1.35 million bail for donations and multiple children’s sex-related fees.

In a prison interview with Nexstar’s Kget, the Navy said the girl looked younger, but she was 18 years old. He said he had no sexual contact and “almost” held his hands.

However, when questioned by the detective, the 27-year-old Navy said they kissed him several times and if she wanted to engage in sexual activity he would “really have thought of it.” According to documents, he tried to rent a hotel room in Fresno, but was turned away for not having two forms of identification.

Navy lawyer Mark Anthony Raimond says his client has autism and sees the world differently. The Navy was only looking for friends, he said.

One of the stranger details contained in the document was from a girl’s friend. They told the aide that she was going to pay someone to lure her out. The girl posted a video to Tiktok in the caption. “First time being kidnapped, Lmao,” the camera is targeting the moving vehicle, says the report.

It was reported that the girl missed the morning of April 13th. My relatives last saw her the night before.

Her family used an app that showed the girl’s phone was near Elk Grove and connected to a mobile hotspot called “Matthew’s iPhone” according to documents. They also found her friend on the popular worldbuilding and gaming app Roblox, which had the username “Thematt3798”.

Investigators obtained information about the account and identified the user as a Navy, the documents said. Record Check gave him his address and his gray Honda Civic license plate.

License plate readers captured the vehicle in Kern County on April 13 at 3:17am and 4:10am, the report says.

The detective pinged the girl’s cell phone, notified the Elk Grove police of the investigation, and kept them up to date with the car location. Documents say an Elk Grove police officer found the car in the parking lot at 3:35pm.

The Navy will return to court next month.
