Lancaster authorities are investigating the ominous findings after the man’s body was found in a trash can inside a U-Haul truck early Sunday morning.
The incident unfolded around 1:49am, when deputies investigating reports of missing persons arrived at the Shadow Park Inn Motel in the 44,000 block of Sierra Highway.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies reviewed security footage from the motel and found a U-Haul truck leaving the area just before they arrived. They discovered the truck was a little farther away on Beach Avenue, officials said.
The lawmaker opened the rear cargo area of U-Haul and found a large trash can with the man’s body inside.
Sheriff’s officials say several individuals from both the motel and where U-Haul was found were taken into custody for questions.
The LASD Murder Bureau is investigating it. No arrests have been announced and the victim’s identity has not been released.
LA County Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death.
Authorities did not say whether the bodies found were the same person involved in the investigation of the missing person.
The Sheriff’s Office asked anyone with information about the incident to contact the Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500. Anonymous tips can also be submitted via LA Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at lacrimestoppers.org.
