The man was safely rescued after his SUV was drawn into a swollen Rapid Creek amid the storm in Orange County on Thursday.
The Orange County Fire Department responded to a portion of Trabuco Creek in San Juan Capistrano in the Trabuco Creek and Rosenbaum Road areas around 9:39 a.m.
The car with the man inside was somehow rushed to the water and washed down by a tree in the middle of the stream. The man left the car and hung it on a tree while waiting for the rescue team.
With the help of the helicopter crew, OCFA was able to save the man from the water.

“The only place itself has become extremely challenging for rescuers,” said OCFA’s Tan Nugguen TANIGHTAN.
Nguyen called all the paths of potential rescue “danger.” Options included trying to reach the man via the boat, but the water in quick movement made the challenge. Ultimately, the crew was called to perform a “pinpoint drop” from the helicopter with ultimate accuracy so that the crew could be lowered to a safe location for rescue of the man.

“That’s a miracle [that the man is safe]”Nguyen said.
It was not immediately clear how the man’s car got into the water.
