A police car was thrust into a drunk driver Sunday night at the scene of a fatal crash investigation in Orange County.

The Fountain Valley Police Department told KTLA on Monday that officers were first sent to the intersection of Warner Avenue and Los Jardines Street at 10:30pm in response to a report of a collision between a vehicle and a fatal pedestrian.

Details of the initial investigation are limited, but an unconfirmed report from Stringer Service County News found that two pedestrians were struck by a sedan and rushed to a nearby hospital, but were unable to survive, two pedestrians crossed the street.

Authorities have not revealed the victim’s identity Monday evening.

Police said the fatal crash driver was still under investigation when the DUI driver was identified who was hit by one of the cruisers on the scene at about 11:10pm.

The police car had its lights activated when it was hit, according to county news.

The suspect DUI was taken into custody, and Fountain Valley PD said there were no injuries, but the hit unit is currently on leave of service.
