The teenage shoplifter was arrested for over a week after allegedly killing a 60-year-old man who tried to stop him in the parking lot of a Southern El Monte shopping centre.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office announced Monday that detectives found and arrested suspects on Friday, April 18th, identified as a 16-year-old man.

According to LASD, the investigation revealed that the 16-year-old was driving a vehicle that would fatally drive the victim Kourosh “Steve” Yaghoubi on April 9th.

What happened after 12:20pm was that Yaguhobi said she was supporting her brother’s store.

Yaghoubi, according to eyewitnesses, attacked him, hit him on the head and chased the shoplifter who hit him on the ground. The suspect’s escape vehicle ran around him as he lay unprotected in the middle of the parking lot, the victim’s family said.

Detectives arrive and find Yaghoubi suffering from the trauma of dull forces, and paramedics assert he has died on the scene.

LASD said the case is in the process of being presented to the LA County District Attorney’s Office by the East Los Angeles chapter to consider filing charges on the subject of the juvenile.

The investigation is still ongoing, and detectives are trying to identify several other suspects seen in the vehicle after the crime occurred. Anyone with information is advised to contact the LASD Murder Bureau at 323-890-5500. Anonymous tips can be provided online or by calling 800-222-8477.
