Police in Long Beach arrested a man suspected of misusing a dog in a violent incident that was caught in video earlier this week.
Graphic surveillance footage of the Monday morning attack outside of 235 E. 12th Street was posted to Instagram by a nonprofit organization called Animal Hope and Wellness.
A man with a skateboard lifted a medium-sized brown dog off the ground on a leash, pulling it over his shoulder, bobbing it to the ground and kicking it.
Later Tuesday, detectives found and arrested the man believed to be responsible, Long Beach Police Department posted on Facebook.

“This type of cruelty has no place in our community,” said Police Chief Wally Hewisch.
Police have not released the suspect’s identity and have not released any charges.
“We would like to thank our detectives and officers for their outstanding work in quickly identifying suspects and arresting them,” Hebeish said. “We acknowledge the deep concerns this incident has raised throughout our community and appreciate the public’s support in sharing important information.”
The post also said the dog has been rescued and is being cared for by Long Beach Animal Care Services.
PETA has announced a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to arrests and information about the dog’s location. It was unclear if anyone was eligible to claim the reward.
