He held a press conference early Sunday morning from the Pentagon with Secretary of Defense Pete Hegses and Chairman of Staff Dan Dan “Razin” Kane, broadcasting details about the successful US military strike at Iran’s nuclear facility.
“Last night, at President Trump’s order, the US Central Command conducted a precision strike in the middle of the night against three nuclear facilities, Iran-Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan, in order to destroy or significantly decompose Iran’s nuclear program.”
“It was an incredibly overwhelming success,” continued Hegses. “The orders received from the commander were focused. It was strong and it was clear that it destroyed Iran’s nuclear program. However, it is worth noting that he has not targeted the Iranian military or Iranian people during his tenure.”
The press conference followed President Donald Trump’s speech to the country at 10pm on Saturday evening, just hours after announcing a successful strike in the Iranian nuclear facility trio.

“This mission has shown the world the level of joint and alliance integration that speaks to the strength of our alliance and joint forces,” continued Heggs. “As President Trump said, the US is not asking for war, but let me be clear. When our people, partners, or our interests are threatened, we act quickly and decisively. Iran should listen to the US and know that he means that.”
Caine spoke to the media and explained the strike, known as the “Midnight Hammer Operation.” This included dozens of uses of the submarine, Tomahawk’s land attack cruise missile, and “the longest B-2 Spirit Bomber mission since 2001.”
“At about 5pm ET last night, just before the strike package entering Iran, a US submarine at the central headquarters of responsible launches more than 20 Tomahawk land attack cruise missiles on major surface infrastructure targets, just as often as the Operation Midnight Hammer Strike Package entered Iranian airspace,” Kane said. “The US has adopted several deception tactics.”

“This was a highly classified mission that few people in Washington know the timing and nature of this plan,” he continued. “As I explain the operational details, I’ll show you the graphics on the side: a large B-2 Strike package consisting of bombers launched from the continent of America to maintain tactical surprises from midnight on Friday until Saturday morning.
Trump addresses the nation about the “magnificent military success” of the US strike at Iran’s nuclear facility

Trump announced that the US had attacked a trio of Iran’s nuclear facilities through a Truth Social Post on Saturday evening.
The president has ordered the US B-2 stealth bombers to carry out strikes against nuclear facilities in Fold, Natanz and Isfahan in Iran.
Five or six bunkerbuster bombs have hit Fordow’s nuclear site, Trump told Fox News’ Sean Hannity shortly after announcing the Saturday night’s strike.
Trump later spoke to the nation from the White House, but was adjacent to Vice President J.D. Vance, Hegses and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, where he announced that Iran’s nuclear facility had been “eliminated” and that the country was returned to the corner and that “now peace must be created.”
Trump declares a “very successful attack” on Iran’s nuclear program as US military attacks three important locations
“Iran’s nuclear enrichment facility has been completely wiped out,” Trump said. “And now, Iran, a bully in the Middle East, must make peace, or future attacks will be much bigger and much easier.”

Trump repeatedly urged Iran to make deals on the nuclear program before attacking nuclear facilities, but the country withdrew from continuing talks with the US scheduled for June 15 in Oman and refused to return to the table for the next few days. Israel ordered Iran to strike on June 12th, which was preemptively ordered. Israeli Intelligence Agency has shown that Iran’s nuclear program is progressing rapidly.
“Some time ago, the US military carried out massive precision strikes at the Iranian regime’s three major nuclear facilities, Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan,” Trump said in his speech. “Everyone has heard their names for many years because they built this horribly destructive corporation. Our aim was to destroy Iran’s nuclear enrichment capabilities and to halt the nuclear threat posed by the world’s number one national sponsor. Tonight I can report to the world that the strike is an epic military success.”
Trump promises to respond with “complete strength and power” of the US military if Iran attacks America
“For 40 years, Iran has been saying, “Death to America. Death to Israel.” They killed our people, blew our arms away, and blew our legs out with roadside bombs,” Trump continued. “It was their specialty. We lost over 1,000 people, especially hundreds of thousands of people in the Middle East and around the world, especially as a direct result of their hatred.”
The president said the US worked like a team with Israel, led by a strike.
“I would like to thank and congratulate Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu,” he said. “We worked as a team, and we have come a long way to erase this terrible threat to Israel, perhaps as if the team had never worked before. We want to thank the Israeli military for the amazing work they have done.
Kane told media that the strike was US-led on Saturday evening, and that Israel praised Israel for “decreasing Iran’s capabilities.”
“Israel has produced incredible military success in the beginning and ongoing, particularly in reducing Iran’s capabilities and degrades Iran’s launchers,” said the reusable ballistic missile. “It was incredible to see what our ally Israel can do.”
“But as it relates to this strike, it was a US manipulation and was US-led,” he added. “We took advantage of some of the preparatory work that has been done over the past week and a half.”
Heggs emphasized that Trump’s focus is on securing peace in the Middle East following the strike.
“When the president came out last night, he wanted peace,” Hegses said. “We need a negotiated settlement here. Ultimately, Iran demonstrated that it has no nuclear capabilities. That is a very clear mission set for this operation.”

Israel halted nuclear negotiations and then launched its first strike on June 12th after months of attempts and stalling that raised concerns that Iran was moving forward with its nuclear program. Shortly afterwards, Netanyahu declared that a strike was necessary to roll back the Iranian threat to Israel’s very survival.
The strike was unexpected on Saturday evening. Trump on Thursday said he would make a decision to Iran within the next two weeks, suggesting that such a strike would not unfold over the weekend. The six B-2 bombers heading westward from Missouri towards Guam on Saturday afternoon with Decoy “were part of a misleading bite suggesting that President Trump may have put off the decision,” Fox News Chief Security Correspondent Jennifer Griffin said it appeared on Saturday night when the news broke.
“The six B-2 bombers heading west towards Guam would not have reached Iran in time to take part in the strike,” she told Fox News’ Bret Baier on Saturday evening. “So it suggests to me that there is probably an additional B-1 package that flew east from Whiteman Air Force Base. Again, this was all part of the deception.
Trump has won bipartisan praise from lawmakers in Congress for taking action to prevent Iran, one of the world’s leading terrorist sponsors, from achieving nuclear capabilities.
However, other members of Congress simultaneously criticized Trump for not seeking Congress’ approval prior to the military strike, raising concerns about the risks of war.
Israel’s actions against Iran create strategic opportunities for us in its nuclear talk, experts say
Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has yet to comment on the strike. However, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Aragci said diplomacy is an unlikely option in the wake of the US strike.
The Iranian flag will fly as fire and smoke from Israel’s attacks on Sharan oil depot on June 15, 2025, following Israeli attacks in Iran, Iran and Iran.
“Last week, when Israel decided to blow up its diplomacy, we were in negotiations with the US. This week, when the US decided to blow up its diplomacy, we had discussions with the E3/EU.

Araguchi said Iran will travel to Moscow on Sunday to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin, who is enjoying a “strategic partnership.”
Hegseth said at a press conference on Sunday that communications with Iran are being made publicly and personally in pursuit of a contract for peace.
“I can see that there are both public and private messages that are delivered directly to Iranians on multiple channels. They give them every opportunity to come to the table. They understand exactly what America’s position is. “And I hope they do that.”
