The Los Angeles Dodgers agreed to an extension of their contract with manager Dave Roberts, making him the most paid skipper in baseball, ensuring Doc remains with the team throughout the 2029 season.

Roberts entered the final year of his contract and was away from his second World Series title in LA

According to John Hayman of the MLB Network and the New York Post, his New Deal adds three years to the backend of the contract, with an estimated total of $32.4 million.

The extension also made Roberts the best paid manager in MLB history and took off the Chicago Cubs manager Craig Counsel, who won the title in the previous offseason.

Roberts has the highest win rate among all eligible managers in MLB history and is following two World Series titles.

He also spent 10 years at stops in Cleveland, Boston, San Diego and San Francisco. He was suitable for the Dodgers from 2002 to 2004.

A coach of players known for his close personal relationship with his roster, Roberts has been the subject of criticism for his lack of postseason success, while hiring one of the sport’s most dominant and expensive regular season rosters.

After the team’s success in the 2024 postseason and World Series, many of those complaints have either become quiet or completely ignored after being highlighted by the use of masterclass tightwire methods with the roster’s exhausted pitching staff.

It is widely expected that Roberts will have a bust in Cooperstown when he leaves the dugout last.

Heyman says an official announcement of Roberts’ New Deal is expected in the coming days.

The Los Angeles Dodgers will begin their recurring quest for the World Series in Tokyo next week. They will return to California for a brief return in preseason play before hosting a home opener against the Detroit Tigers on March 27th.
