According to CBS News, “A Slow Show with Stephen Colbert” is reportedly coming to an end in May next year.

An announcement from Colbert himself came during the taping of the show on Thursday.

“I want to let you know what I found last night,” Colbert allegedly told the live audience while the camera was rolling.

In a statement to CBS News, Paramount said the “The Late Show” franchise would end in May 2026, the end of the broadcast season, and the decision to pull the plug is only for financial reasons.

“We’re retiring from the “Late Show” franchise of that time, thinking Stephen Colbert is invaluable. Stephen is proud to call it CBS Home.

The statement added that the decision is against a “dramatic late-night backdrop” and has nothing to do with how the show works.

This developing story will be updated as additional details become available.
