At least temporarily, the drivers circumvented the authorities after a strange highway pursuit on several highways in the San Fernando Valley on Wednesday evening.
California Highway Patrol officials began tracking after spotting the driver behind the wheels of a dark sedan driving on the 405 freeway before 6:30pm
The driver refused to stop when the officer tried to pull him. The suspect then called 911 and reportedly contacted the CHP Dispatch. The CHP Dispatch claimed that the driver said the brakes on his vehicle had broken down and he could not stop, but CHP has yet to confirm the details.
Officers ordered the suspect to stop the acceleration, and soon thereafter failed pit operations that partially tear the vehicle’s rear bumper.
Preliminary information about the incident suggests that the suspect told the CHP dispatch that he must go to pick up the child from day care and disconnect the phone.

The suspect then moved to the 101 highway, speeding across the shoulder of the road again, and weaving in danger before reaching the 170 highway and leaving on Oxnard Street.
At the stoplight, the driver moved the other driver into the Noho West Shopping Centre. There, the car reportedly was abandoned on the first floor of a building near a Starbucks coffee shop.
Shortly before 7pm, CHP and LA police stopped searching for the driver, but there were unconfirmed reports that the license plate had returned to the house two blocks away.
So far, there have been no reports of arrests. Many of the trackings are available to watch on the video players listed above.
Early in the afternoon, three retail theft suspects from Ventura County were arrested after a chase that hits speeds more than 100 mph. Just an hour later, Shimi Valley police caught the man in a stolen work van.
