On the fifth day of the anti-ice protest in Los Angeles, demonstrators have already been disbanded by police, ordered the arrest of dozens, and ordered a curfew that covers a square mile in which most of the violence and vandalism has been broken.

Just after 2pm, the Los Angeles Police Department protested “illegal legislature” outside a federal building in downtown and ordered the protesters to be dissolved.

These same protesters eventually spill onto the 101 highway as California Highway Patrol officials tried to clean the road.

Hours later, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass held a joint press conference with other city leaders to announce that a local emergency had been declared and that the curfew would go into effect until 6am on Wednesday.

Part of the curfew city is a triangular area between 110, 10 and 5 highways, including Skid Row, Little Tokio, Fashion District and Chinatown.

Images on Google Maps show the affected area of downtown Los Angeles, placed under a temporary curfew by Mayor Karen Bass on June 10, 2025.

Gov. Gavin Newsom made his own speech to the state shortly after the LA press conference was completed. He condemned President Donald Trump’s actions.

Newsom tried to stop the Trump administration from unilaterally mobilizing his whim. This is an effort that hit the obstacles after a federal judge refused an emergency motion to stop the development.

KTLA 5 news will continue to report on these anti-ice protests, if necessary, throughout the evening and the rest of the week.
