The mayor of Southern California, facing recall efforts, is being fired as his proposal to end the homelessness issue in his city was “giving them all the fentanyl they wanted.”
Comments were made by longtime Lancaster Mayor Rex Paris at the city council meeting on February 25th. Comments have surfaced ever since he interviewed Fox 11 this week.
During the meeting in February, speakers in the Public Comments section wanted to talk to Paris about the homelessness crisis in Lancaster. Her argument was that Paris wanted to “bump” the city’s homeless population in one singular camp.

Paris’s response was to do something even more serious than that.
“What I want to do is give them free fentanyl,” he said. “That’s what I want to do.”
When asked to repeat what he said, Paris repeated, “I want to give them all the fentanyl they want.”
“It wasn’t kind,” Speaker said.
The point that Paris wants to give homeless people illegal drugs that kill thousands of Californians a year is because parts of his city are tired of his antics. According to the Antelope Valley Press, the city clerk of Lancaster now calls on Paris’ political opponents “for false and/or misleading information about their intention to circulate recall petitions and failure to comply with the state election laws.
The allegations come as political opponents who lost to Paris in last year’s mayoral election are trying to remember him.
“For too long, Mayor R. Rex Paris has prioritized personal interests for the well-being of its residents. His administration has been characterized by mismanagement, controversial policies and disregard for transparency,” reads some on Recall-Rex.com.
Organizers accurately refer to Paris’ decision to extend the mayor’s terms from two to four years as an example of “operating democratic processes.”
It was his sixth time that Paris won the election in 2024.
