Exclusive: The Secretary of the Army ordered the U.S. Military Academy in West Point to restore the peak of the Bible School at the Cadet Chapel in West Point, reversing a Biden-era decision not to include the peak when exchanging the Bible.
“Since West Point’s founding, generations of cadets, officers and soldiers have drawn power and inspiration from God’s Word,” Army Secretary Dan Driscoll said in a statement Friday to Fox News Digital. “The decision to remove the academy’s historic coat of arms from the cadet chapel’s Bible is another example of the previous administration’s pushing far-flung left politics into military institutions. I am instructing West Point to immediately reverse this decision and restore this vital duty, honor and national symbolism.”

Driscoll’s statement reported that a conservative judicial and government watchdog group filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit on Tuesday over documents relating to why the Department of Defense lacks in the new Bible after it first reported.
A West Point spokesman declined to provide comment to Fox News Digital on Friday.
Judicial surveillance first submitted its FOIA request in December 2024 in search of biblical-related records after the MacArthur Society, a group of West Point alumni who are concerned about the potential politicization of biblical society alumni.

A West Point spokesman told Fox News Digital when asked to comment on the new Bible that the Chapel Bible currently lists the names of the military academy.
“The Bible I purchased for the cadet chapel at West Point is decorated with the “US Academy of Medicine, West Point, New York,” the spokesman said in a statement Wednesday in Fox News Digital.
Judicial Watch submitted the original FOIA request to learn more about the decision due to concerns that the military academy was trying to eliminate relations with what the group labels “traditional values.”
However, after no response to the documents, judicial surveillance filed a lawsuit against the Department of Defense for the documents on Tuesday.
“The heavy lifting of Judicial Watch will have consequences,” Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said in a statement Friday to Fox News Digital. “Our corruption lawsuits revealing corruption again show how corruption can be resolved. The US military and West Point are not wrong in honor of God.”

The combination of religious content and symbols with military material has historically faced repulsion.
In 2012, the approval of the Holman Christian Standard Bible military series, which was sold in military exchange, was approved amid concerns that the series showed that the Bible served as the official religious text for military services.
West Point Crest received several iterations, but historically included an eagle above the school’s mascot, the Black Knights.
