Olympic organizers say they’re on track after more than three years before the world arrives in Los Angeles.
At a press conference at the LA Convention Center, the LA28 Coordination Committee celebrated its important achievements and reduced its vision for the future of the 2028 Summer Olympics and Paralympics.
“After three intense days of meetings, I am very pleased before you and very happy chair of the coordination committee,” the committee chair recorded 1, 135 days before the opening ceremony.
Committee members praised the progress since their last visit in November. The LA28 team is expanding rapidly, with leadership roles fulfilled, functional areas activated, and detailed plans ongoing with distribution partners are on track.
Among the highlights is the development of a comprehensive master plan, focusing on existing venues in the city. Organizers confirmed that Hollywood Park will serve as an international broadcasting centre, and that Dodger Stadium, which the group visited on Tuesday during the Dodger Met game, will also play a central role.
The game is also expected to have a historic impact on women’s sports. Nodding to the 1984 game that saw the women’s marathon debut, LA28 officials revealed for the first time that women’s soccer will feature more participating teams than men’s competitions.
Beyond sports, organizers have honoured communities affected by recent disasters, including the Palisade and the Eton Canyon wildfires.
“As we reach 2028, when we light up that Olympic flame, it will definitely become a flame of regeneration,” one source said, highlighting the game’s iconic importance to city resilience.
Going forward, fans can expect to reveal that the tickets and hospitality plans for the second half of 2025, the 2026 Torch Relay Route and the mascot are closer to the game.
“It really feels good about the team we have… we have all the pieces we need for today,” the organizers said.
