A suspected DUI driver was arrested after an incorrect collision between a multivehicle on the 101 highway on Oxnard on Friday.

Authorities received the wrong road driver’s call at 9:15am in the northbound lane of the 101 highway

According to the California Highway Patrol, a 37-year-old woman driving a Chevrolet equinox SUV was on the ramp in the wrong direction from Oxnard Boulevard.

When she realized that the woman was driving in the wrong direction, she made a U-turn and was hit by an approaching semi-truck.

The shock left her SUV out of control before resting at the median. The driver of the Ford F-150 truck quickly slowed down to avoid the spinning SUV, but the Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV ended up at the rear.

The 33-year-old Oxnard woman, Jeep Driver, suffered moderate injuries from the collision and was taken to St. John’s Hospital. The Ford Driver, a 38-year-old Ventura woman, suffered minor injuries.

The 60-year-old Yuba city man, a semi-truck driver, was not injured, and the suspect’s driver refused medical assistance at the scene. She was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI.

The northbound highway lanes in the area were closed for an hour as authorities investigated and worked to clean up the debris.

The incident is under investigation. Anyone with additional information can call 805-662-2640 at CHP’s Ventura Area Office.
