New research shows that among the country’s leading restaurant chains, In-n-out remains the best in terms of worker satisfaction.
The California-based burger chain has achieved its highest position for the 10th consecutive year, according to an analysis by investment banking and financial services company William Blair.
According to Nation’s Restaurant News, the annual report spans 11 years and is based on over 530,000 reviews of almost 90 restaurant brands.

This year’s survey found that 91% of in-n-out workers recommend a job to their friends if they don’t offer double-double or animal-style fries. According to industry publication QSR Magazine, that percentage jumped 5% from last year’s survey.
In regards to employee satisfaction, there were the top three chains that remained unchanged between 2024 and 2025, with Cane and Dutch Bros Hardies being the lowest brand at 39% after In-N-Out.

According to William Blair’s analysis, IN-N-Out is the only chain that has appeared in the top 10 every year for 10 years.

“Business is tough,” says the owner of a California fast food franchise.
Research shows that getting a salary increase isn’t everything. In fact, the authors found that compensation and benefits were the lowest correlation between the six measurement attributes, according to Nation’s Restaurant News.
Instead, the biggest factors were culture/values, senior management, and work/life balance.
