Burger enthusiasts in California have plenty to celebrate this International Burger Day.
Yelp has compiled a list of the top 25 burger brands in the United States to celebrate the May 28th holiday, an unofficial Wednesday holiday.
To make the cut, these brands had to have over 100 locations, operate in multiple states, and be categorized primarily under Yelp’s “burgers.”
1. In-N-Out Burger (Irvine, California)
“West Coast icon IN-N-Out has achieved legendary status by using fresh, simple ingredients on its menu, which has been consistent since 1948,” writes Yelp. “Fans have rave reviews for their friendly service and nostalgic drive-through experience. With over 119,000 Yelp reviews in over 400 locations, the brand has received special praise for its less-than-secret “secret menu.”
2. Habin Burger Grill (Irvine, CA)
“Habit Burger builds a loyal fanbase with smoky, flavorful patees, perfect carbonized over an open flame and commits to fresh ingredients.
3. Shake Shack (New York)
“What began as a humble hot dog cart at Madison Square Park in New York City has grown into a national sense,” writes Yelp. “Shake Shack brings gourmet flare to the world of fast casual burgers with a focus on high-quality ingredients and chef-driven recipes.”
4. Culver (Wisconsin)
Yelp writes: “A Midwest favourite found in 26 states, Culver’s is loved by fans for its butter burgers and rich frozen custard. The Wisconsin-born brand has built a reputation for warm hospitality and comfort food.”
5. Island Restaurant (Carlsbad, California)
Yelp wrote about the Carlsbad-based island restaurant: “(It) brings a tropical flavour to the burger world with its surf-inspired decorations, a beachy atmosphere and a menu full of bold and flavorful options.
