Veterinarians in Las Vegas are missing following a video of the virus showing him kicking a horse in his head.
On Thursday, Dr. Sean Freener was paid to manage some horse anesthesia shots on Nevada property. Owner Shauna Gonzalez said he had been using the services of the Freener since August 2024 and was shocked to hear about it when he returned from the chicken coop.
“I heard [my mother] cried, “What a god, he just kicked him,” Gonzalez said.
Gonzalez ran to his mother’s window to look outside, but saw nothing except the young Colt struggled to breathe.
“What a god, mom, he’s choking,” she said. “He wrapped the horse around his neck three times and kicked him in the head.”
Within seconds, Gonzalez says he witnessed Freener kicking the horse in the head, leaving a scuff. Gonzalez fell to the ground.

“I started to have serious anxiety attacks and couldn’t smoke myself,” she said. “I was already on the ground and my daughter picked up a phone and hit the record, when she took him to videotape and kicked him.”
According to Gonzalez, the property, which also serves as a rescue, includes around 10 horses and other farm animals. Some horses came from an Arizona booking.
“The opportunity came when I could save my baby horse,” she said. “We made sure there were doctors lined up, trainers lined up, everyone in line at the distance that we needed to line up to take care of these horses.”
Gonzalez said the injured horse was brought to the center of a desert pine horse, suffering a scuff on the skull and unnecessary injuries from molting.
“[Frehner] “I left my property before my horse got up,” she said.
The next day, Gonzalez contacted Nye County Animal Control and introduced the Nye County Sheriff’s Office. She filed accusations against Freeners for animal cruelty. NYE County has yet to confirm the status of the claims.
Over the weekend, the videos were widely shared online. This has spurred posts from freelancers.
“As in the video, I didn’t blatantly kick this horse away and kick it. That wasn’t my intention,” Freener wrote. “It was simply done so that he could breathe and get up and move to put the horse in a better position, so I could try to get anesthetize again.”
Frehner ended the post with an apology and admitted to kicking the horse.
“But yes, I kicked him with the chin, so I apologized so much and hope this never happens,” he wrote.
Missing person
Several Nevada agencies began searching for missing people within the Mead National Recreation Area this morning. Sources said Nexstar’s Klas Crews is looking for Shawn David Frehner.

The effort stated that it included air, ocean and ground resources. In this release, they did not verify the identity of the missing person, nor did they say when or where the person was seen.
The NPS was “actively” searching for missing individuals by the National Park Service, the Metropolitan Police Department in Las Vegas and Red Rock Search and Rescue volunteers, the NPS said. The crew told KLAS that they completed their ground search on Monday afternoon and would begin again on Tuesday morning.
