On Sunday, Encino’s jewelry store became the latest to be targeted by robbers using brooch torches to make them safe to access.
Surveillance video of Afghanistan Lapis Jewelry, located in the 17,600 block of Ventura Boulevard, shows four robbers raw on the floor after breaking into business in the early hours of the morning.
KTLA reporter Angeli Kakade was in the store Wednesday morning. She could still smell the smoke from inside the looted store. There, the items were overturned and I used a blowtorch to open two safes.
The suspect is believed to have spent about an hour and a half inside the store after defeating the alarm system, fleeing goods worth an estimated hundreds of thousands of dollars.
The robbery will be seen on June 1, 2025 in the Encino Jewelry Store. (Nelofar Nassiri)
“For a second, you can build your own life, feel that you are retirement age and that everything you saved is zero and one night,” said shopkeeper brother Amin Nassiri.
The GoFundMe donation page has been launched to help owners repair and reopen the family-owned store.
The robbery is roughly the same as the break-in made at a gem store in Glendale last month, with the suspect walking through the roof and then using bowtorch to open the safe.
